Our second seminar was attended by only 3 students. As long as there were students, I really don't mind.
Our youngest student in level E - who is only 8 attended. As this was her first time attending a "seminar" she thought it was a party. Anyway, i let her giggle throughout the day.
Nothing much to report on this seminar
Daily updates on my journey as an Instructor, a daughter to my mom, a sister, a loyal friend and a person who is looking for ways to improve and become a better peson in every way.

SEMINAR - Part 1
This month, I planned seminars for students doing topics from fractions onwards. At this point, their fundamental skills should be strong. Most of them, are advance students and have started to struggle with homework given. The only way to keep them motivated is to invite them for group interactive seminar.
I prepared the basic outline but most of the flow was determined by them. They gave a lot of feedback. With small groups I think they'd feel more at ease. We had Meshalini, David, Ashwin, Sathiya and Trish this week. With the success of our very first last Tuesday, I'll want to continue doing it next month.
Funny how Sathiya and David asked me if they can join next week's seminar. That's what I call INSPIRING!!!!!

Why I get up every morning?
Would you believe if I say this boy once tried to bite me? He even scratched, punched and pushed me away?
That was 2 years ago. Now, he's "My Man!!!". He's still the same. Can't sit properly, can't focus very well yet, can't have him at the centre without hearing him sneezing, BUT he never failed to do his homework, he's always punctual and HE SMILED FOR THE CAMERA!!!!

One day in my life
Part 1
A nice day at the centre started by Daniel greeting us "Hi Teacher!!!!!" .........
Part 2
Obediently, Daniel started his work......
Daniel suddenly found out that the table can be pushed and moved......
He later found out that it was much more fun to be on the book shelves......
In the end, he decided that to be on the shelves was what he wanted.....
Before he left, he gave me a hug!!! Do you think I should give up this profession??????

KAO Conference - Part 4
I'd like to share what I've learned during this year's conference.
I've come to realize that being a teacher is not just about teaching children. Teaching without passion is like writing on a paper with an invisible ink. You could write and write but you would not be able to recall what you have written. However, teaching with passion, gives a whole lot of meaningful return in the future.
Being involved in this big organisation has opened my eyes and my mind to open my heart to educating children till my last red pen drop!!!! I want to be able to explore the wonderful world of teaching more and more. This is my 9th year, I still have a long way to go.
I may choose not to continue running my centre one day, because I may choose to teach in other kind of environment. Be it the smokey mountain (a dump site area in the Philippine), or a roofless building, or even in a place where no one can hear nor see. I have experienced on how to educate priviledged children, I may want to try teaching the under priviledged.
I was looked down at because I have no extra ordinary qualification, I have no children, I have never taken care of my brother and I have no money!!!
But now......I believe in myself. And that itself will take me where ever I want to be.
I believe that someone with highly respected paper qualification, but has got no heart and passion towards what they're doing, will not take them anywhere close to happiness.
Right now, I'm happy..... even though I'm still the same person that was looked down at.

KAO Conference - Part 3
My very first completer was there! Ernest joined the very first Completers' Club Conference. This would be the only opportunity I have to be with "my" Ernest. He was following me around during lunch and we shared a lot of things regarding his education and future. He has become a real pleasant person and a real gentleman.
I was introducing him around to all my friends from Malaysia and other countries. He is doing his internship with CIMB Bank now until September, when he has to go back to England to continue his study in Maths at one of the most prestigious University in the world. Cambridge University.
I asked him if what he has done with the program has helped him with his studies. I wanted to hear it from him. And he said YES! He said it has given him the patience and determination in his studies. He came out top at The Imperial College, London, England.
When asked if he has a girlfriend, he wasn't shy to tell me he doesn't have. I was just being me!!!
As long as Ernest keeps using the knowledge that he has gained and keeps applying the skills he's gained from our method of learning, I'm happy enough to be smiling everyday.
"will update photo of Ernest soon!!"
