breep, bleep, bloopers....

We always think only kids say the darnest thing....but we adults have our moments too. Don't we???

One time, my assistant, Mrs Admin, made a blunder greeting one of our student. Little 4 yr old came in with his maid, and as usual the students will always be greeted by mrs admin happily. Instead of calling the boy's name, mrs admin called his dad's name..... "Hi! Mr Daddy!!!" ..instead of "hi! little 4 yr old!!!"....with a wide grin on her face...when she realized this, she felt like hiding under her desk.

aha....i remember another one..... we had a great party recently with the children at A & W. we had games, gifts, dancing and prancing!!! after a short speech from yours truly, and the BIG BOSS, we all decided to serve the children their food and drinks. they all had nuggets and root beers. It was a change of scene when teachers serve drinks to their students.

When an assistant, Ms Maths, was serving little hindustani boy, just like the rest, she told him what she was serving. It went like this, "Little Hindustani Boy, here's your chicken nuggets and your root beer!" Guess what he said????? "Sorry, I don't drink beer!!!!!" ... hmmmmm how would we explain that???

a monster and a monster in the making

Everything was calm today. cute faced boy and brothers behaved alright. He was transferred to my centre last year. I still remember the first time he threw tantrum. for 1 hour, i had to make sure he stayed at one corner. He wasn't noisy but very violent. I was bitten, scratched, pinched ... u name it...... Surprisingly, before our closing time, his mom brought him in and he said sorry and gave me a hug. How could you hate a little one like that? With his bright eyes..chubby cheeks and cute mouth.

I remember a funny incident that happened last year. In October, I decided to curl my hair. I don't even know why!!!! After doing so, I did expect a few comments from the students.... but i only got one comment. Little Miss Yokohama who was 6 yrs old has always been observant. She even noticed the smell of my hand lotion and never failed to say it out.
The minute she walked in the classroom, she came straight to me and asked, "Did you do something to your hair?", I answered , "I think so..." "You curled your hair!!!!"...she discovered...But looked kind of worried. Kept asking me a few times after that why I decided to do so.... Anyway, before she left, we had to discuss about her performance for the day.All was well and good, so she was heading towards the door....suddenly I saw her coming back...and....

Guess what she said ??**^%%$$#&^*.... ""I know why you curled your hair!!!!! It's for HALLOWEEEEEEN!!!!!!! You are going to be a MONSTER!!!!!""

And walked away looking all pleased, because she thought she discovered the reason behind my curly hair!

Hmmmmmmm, before haloween, I actually straightened my hair back to normal!

when the going gets tough...the tough gets going...

Today wasn't really what I would call the greatest day of my teaching life. Nothing bad happened, but it wasn't all that interesting. Early in the morning, while feeling all charged up about creating a new area for our English program, my only English Assistant decided to break the news that she's leaving at the end of next month. After consoling myself for a few hours, I see the brighter side of it. I get to hire new assistants and the students will get to experience new adventure with the new teachers. I'm interviewing tomorrow anyway.

Thinking back of the time when I first got miss O- as in round.... (our English Assistant) it made me wonder if she's ever grateful for what we have done. Anyway, we had some good memories. Two years of good prize giving party. She organized games for both years. The kids enjoyed it.

A few students did call her names in the beginning but it stopped. I'm not in the best mood, so I can't think of anything funny the students have said. ...let me see....

i really can't think of any..today is one tough day.......

One of those things!

Last night i had a chance to go to The Curve with my mom. It was nice. The night market had so much to offer. In the middle of all that, there was TGIF and I spotted two of my students there, dining with their family. I didn't want to disturb them but somehow, big sis saw me and we waved at each other. Little sister always had something to say when she was in the centre. Once she said "Teacher, do you have "gigi palsu"? (false teeth!!!) hmmmm, I don't actually, but the thought that she asked such thing made me chuckle.

The same little sister once was picked up by her uncle and the minute she saw him, she had to announce "Oh! here's my uncle...he's very rich you know!!!!!" Can you imagine how dear uncle must have felt????

She was never short of funny remarks...once seeing my brother in his national costume...she asked him..."Are you wearing that for baca doa?" (Reading verses from the Quran). It has been our tradition at the centre actually that every Friday, we wear our national costume. But being the only male staff at the centre, what he wore was a bit outstanding.

By the way....dear little sister one day gossiped about her parents....but it wouldn't be nice to say it here.

It's a long road......................

Being involved in an education line has made my life so so so happy. I would never trade it for anything else. Am I telling lies???? Well.....actually, I can only see the happy side of teaching. Seeing the children laughing and smiling when entering the centre makes me forget about everything that's not nice. I'm going to share all the funny remarks I've come across over the last 8 yrs......when I can remember them.
