Organising a High School Reunion.

For the first time, I took up the challenge to be part of the organising team to organise a reunion. What more can I say, it's my own high school reunion. I was in a great team. We were all from different background, different in many ways but what bonded us together was our school. BBGS, short for Bukit Bintang Girls' School.

We had a blast putting things together and even bigger blast having fun at the reunion itself. We managed to get some teachers dancing for us and the happiest time was when we got our former headmistress to be there to witness it all. So inspiring.

So many old friends came from every corners of the world. We had Lorraine from Austria, Lubna from Dubai, Suet Poh, Ida, Jin-Hui and a few others from Australia. We also had Pui leng all the way from Netherlands. It was just awesome!!!!

Prior to the actual reunion, I organised a few smaller reunions. I wanted to get all the girls all excited about the real ones.

In fact, 2 nights before the actual reunion, we managed to get some girls together for a pre reunion night.

I'm happy now that I have so many friends from everywhere in the world and just happy to be talking about school days.

BBGS Forever!!!!!

Bird Park FUN day!!!

We had a hot and sweaty day at the Bird Park today. It was not a big group, but big enough to take days of planning.
We gathered at the centre around 8:30am and took off by bus at around 9:00am. Everything was on time. We reached the Park just when the ranger was coming out to meet us.
The children behaved and I thank god, there was no injuries or accidents. Lucas had a little bit of wheezing experience....but did not stop him from smiling and laughing.
Lunch was served at 11:30 and everybody had enough (more than enough for some) to eat. We also were treated to Ribena!!!!
We had our photo sessions while waiting for the Bird Show. It was a bit dragging, but I thought it was a good rest. We all enjoyed the bird show.
Mei Lian and Syazlan were brave enough to volunteer themselves to participate during the show.
I came back with headache....from the heat. But tonight...the real headache...We left some bags and trophies at the corridor of our centre, which is a public area. I can't go there because it's too late and the only thing I can do right now is wait till tomorrow morning.
I'm trying not to be angry at my brother, but, I am.

Football anyone???

Azri and Azfar came in today with Manchester United Football Jerseys. I said hi and when I asked Azfar if MU won the game last night (it pays to read other people's profile in facebook!) he gave me the sweetest smile.

Upon hearing that Amreet who was seated right in front of me asked if I had watch the game last night. I said no. She then started to complain about how she had to endure the noise at her house. She complained both her brothers watched it together with her parents. She kept on and on about the screaming, yelling and the noise. It made me laugh....because, she's only 7.

I used to watch it almost every weekend.....not anymore!!!!!

Thank god it's Good Friday!

Last Friday, our Ms Admin was on leave and one of the assistant had to take an emergency leave. And I was having panic attack. I was thinking, how in the world could the 3 of us take care of the centre when it's the busiest day? We were suppose to get around 80 students between 4 to 8.

At the last minute, I decided to close my back area and directed all the students to use only the front area. 1 assistant took care of "plus and minus" and "Times and divide" students, while I took care of "fraction" + higher level maths + English + Kindy class! no no no....I didn't go crazy. In fact the class was smooth and can be considered quiet.

I later went back and slept like a log!!!

Bird Park Updates

To date, we have almost 30 ppl joining us for the ASHR Fun Day. Award Winners, their siblings, moms and even caretaker will be there. It's just going to be a fun day and our group will include 2 autistic students. At this point, I can't imagine what it's going to be like, but I know they're all excited and the other day, I heard 2 of them talking about it.

They had so many questions and wanted me to fill them up with answers.

Most of them can't wait for the "bus ride".

A new day for me

Today, after many months of heart ache and head ache with a certain staff, I feel like dark clouds have moved away from my windows. I feel the future is so bright, I had to wear shades...ok ok ... that was from a song. But I do feel like singing all day.

Instead, I rearranged the tables and made the classroom look better. And suddenly all the positive charges kept coming to me.

First, I made a rough calculation of my students' enrolment based on the recent report and I've passed the 200 marker! it's 205 to be exact!!!

Second, I'm no longer having to give someone an over rated salary, for the small amount of responsibility she was given.

Third, 100 % of my Higher Level Maths are Independent Learners, 70% of my FRACTION group are Learning to do things without much help and slowly, but surely, my TIMES and DIVIDE group will be trained by my staff to become independent learners as well.

I'm happy, but must try to get enough sleep.

A busy weekend

First I had the School Carnival. The students invited me for the 2nd time. I missed it last year. So this year i had to make time for it. It was a fun filled 2 hours. I saw so many of the old students and they all remembered me and didn't hesitate to say hello.

On Sunday.....I was invited to a "High School Musical" birthday party. I could not upload the video here. But when I can, I will. The children had so much fun with the funny clown. My friend Zailene organized it so well. Of course nothing less was expected from her.
